Cobbly-Nob
is a tiny mountain village approximately 13 miles east of the city of Gatlinburg and near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The Great Smoky Mountains, with its' tracts of old-growth forest and mountain ridges draped in a hazy-blue "smoky fog" has a climate that varies greatly depending on the season and the elevation. Weather conditions within the National Park can change without notice, so visitors should be prepared for almost anything. Elevations in the park range from 800 feet to over 6,000 feet and topography affects local weather. Temperatures will be 10 to 20 degrees cooler on the mountaintops. Spring is often unpredictable and summer is hot and humid, but more pleasant at the higher elevations. Fall has warm days with cool nights and is the driest season. The first frost is usually in late September and winter is generally moderate, but more extreme conditions occur with increasing elevation.
