Lobelville
is located in Perry County in south central Tennessee, near Cane Creek. The town was established in 1854 and was named for Henry DeLobel, a French immigrant who lived in the area for 17 years before returning to France. His name can be found carved in old English script inside a nearby cave. The lovely community of Lobelville is quiet and peaceful - full of small town charm. It's located near The Buffalo River, which has been designated a National Scenic and Wild River, and is very popular for canoeing and rafting. The Buffalo River flows for 43 miles through Perry County, providing beauty and lots of recreational enjoyment. Fishing is another popular activity in the river, especially for smallmouth and rock bass and catfish. Cane Creek is another pristine body of water near Lobelville, perfect for swimming, wading and fishing, or just enjoying a picnic beside its' cool, clear waters on a hot summer day. The Lobelville area is located near the Amish-Mennonite community, and is an area of intriguing river folklore, from early Native American stories through the Civil War and the once prominent riverboat era. Other nearby attractions include the Lady Fingers Bluff State Park, which has hiking trails and a scenic overlook, and Loretta Lynn's Dude Ranch is just thirty minutes away.

Central Tennessee has a moderate four-season climate with warm, humid summers and mild, wet winters. Rainfall is distributed fairly evenly throughout the year, and thunderstorms are common in spring and summer. The higher elevations of the Smokies, Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains are generally cooler in the summer and colder, more blustery in the wintertime. Fall tends to be the dry season, due to the higher frequency of slow-moving high-pressure systems during this season. Average annual snowfall ranges from 4-6 inches in the south and west to over 10 inches in the east. Due to the mild winter conditions over most of the state, snow cover rarely lasts for more than a few days. Severe storms, such as tornadoes, are very infrequent in Tennessee.
