Nunnelly
is an old mining community located about 52 miles west of Nashville, just outside the town of Centerville in Hickman County, Tennessee. This small town was named for the Nunnelly Ore Mines, and is near the scenic Piney River, which is a popular spot with canoeists. For country music fans, Loretta Lynn's ranch is only 35 miles away, and the birthplace of Minnie Pearl is just seven miles from Nunnelly. There are many Mennonite communities in the area, where the old world traditions can be found in the quality handmade furniture and other items offered for sale. Plus, it's a charming and familiar site to see the Mennonite families traveling between towns in their horse-drawn buggies. The nearby town of Centerville also offers local arts and crafts and other shopping. Outdoor recreation is abundant in the Nunnelly area within the surrounding forests, lakes and streams. The Natchez Trace, a beautiful national parkway of 450 miles that runs from Nashville to Natchez, Mississippi, goes through the southwest corner of Hickman County. The Natchez Trace Nature Walk, Baker's Bluff, one of the most scenic views along the Trace, and Jackson Falls are all near the village of Nunnelly. Other nearby attractions include The Gordon House, one of the oldest homes in the area, built in 1817, and the Old Grist Water Mill on Leatherwood Creek.

Central Tennessee has a moderate four-season climate with warm, humid summers and mild, wet winters. Rainfall is distributed fairly evenly throughout the year, and thunderstorms are common in spring and summer. The higher elevations of the Smokies, Blue Ridge and Appalachian Mountains are generally cooler in the summer and colder, more blustery in the wintertime. Fall tends to be the dry season, due to the higher frequency of slow-moving high-pressure systems during this season. Average annual snowfall ranges from 4-6 inches in the south and west to over 10 inches in the east. Due to the mild winter conditions over most of the state, snow cover rarely lasts for more than a few days. Severe storms, such as tornadoes, are very infrequent in Tennessee.
