Morristown
is a city of approximately 25,000, located in the Holston Valley of eastern Tennessee. It serves as the county seat for Hamblen County and is the hub of the Morristown Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Hamblen, Grainger and Jefferson counties. Holston Valley is nestled between the Great Smoky Mountains and Clinch Mountain in what is known as the "Lakeway Area." Two of the states most beautiful lakes - Cherokee and Douglas - are located here and are very popular for fishing and boating, swimming and water skiing. Morristown is also home to two beautiful parks, Panther Creek State Park, located just west of town, and Cherokee Park located to the north. Hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking are available in both parks. More than 30 golf courses are also located within a 50-mile radius of Morristown. The Holston Valley is also a very historical area, where Davy Crockett grew up and many Civil War battles took place. Morristown is home to the regions cultural and performing arts center, the Crockett Tavern and Museum and a new amphitheater in Cherokee Park. The city of Morristown is about an hours drive to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Cumberland Gap National Historic Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The eastern portion of Tennessee maintains a mild climate with four seasons. Summers are generally warm and humid. The Great Smoky Mountains dominates the eastern border of the state, with numerous peaks rising 4,000-6,000 above sea level. Extreme warm temperatures are rare in summer, but at times the high humidity levels makes it seem warmer than it is. Temperatures always range 10 - 20 degrees cooler in the higher elevations. Fall is crisp and cool and the driest season of the year. Winters are mild and wet in Tennessee, and the mountainous eastern border of the state is the wettest part, with annual totals of up to 80 inches in the higher, well-exposed peaks. Snowfall averages around 12 inches and tends to not stay on the ground for long. Rain is common in the summer months, but can occur anytime of the year.
